Northern Ireland (NSES) Needle and Syringe Exchange Service

The Needle and Syringe Exchange Service is a free, confidential service for people who inject drugs. The program is designed to help reduce the spread of blood borne viruses by offering access to free, sterile injecting equipment and safely disposing of used needles and syringes.

Needle and syringe exchange activity - quarterly reports

The quarterly report summarises the regional needle and syringe exchange activity alongside anonymous, non-identifiable client data across Northern Ireland followed by a breakdown by each Health and Social Care Trust.

The data has been collated using a new online database, Neo360 Harm Reduction Information System, that became operational across all NSES sites on 1 December 2022.

Needle and syringe exchange service - annual reports

This report summarises data that is collected on the operation of the Northern Ireland Needle and Syringe Exchange Service (NSES). Each report relates to a twelve-month period.

The anonymised data is collected by the 14 pharmacies and 1 Trust-based service that participate in the Northern Ireland Needle and Syringe Exchange Service (NSES) which was introduced in April 2001.
