Living Well: Be Cancer Aware campaign

The latest Living Well campaign focuses on the importance of being aware of the general signs and symptoms of cancer. The Be Cancer Aware campaign highlights how recognising these signs can help with early diagnosis. The campaign is running in Living Well community pharmacies throughout April and May 2025.

Living Well is a community-based pharmacy service offered in over 500 pharmacies across Northern Ireland. It is delivered in partnership with the Public Health Agency, Community Pharmacy NI and the Department of Health. The service supports people to improve their health and wellbeing by:
•    raising awareness of various public health messages and campaigns;
•    sharing of health and wellbeing information;
•    signposting to a relevant health professional, service or support in the community;
•    using behavioural interventions, if appropriate.

Through the Living Well service, pharmacies help you to address risk factors that contribute to ill health in Northern Ireland.

Cancer becomes more common as we get older, with most cases in people aged 50 and over. But whatever your age, it is always best to listen to your body and talk to your GP if something doesn’t feel quite right. Detecting cancer early increases the chances of treating it successfully.

To find out more about the signs and symptoms of cancer and to help reduce your risk, pick up your free Be Cancer Aware leaflet in your local participating community pharmacy. You can speak to a member of the pharmacy team if you need further help and support.
