Seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccine 2025/2026
Social media resources for the vaccination programme 2025/2026
Graphics | Details (caption and hashtags) |
![]() | The winter flu and COVID-19 vaccination programmes will begin on 6 October 2025. Vaccines provide the best defence against winter viruses. People who are eligible for vaccination against flu or COVID-19 this year should make themselves aware of their own GP surgery’s or community pharmacist’s vaccination arrangements and work with them to get vaccinated. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines |
![]() | Children in P1 to Year 12 will be offered the flu vaccine in school. Most children receive the vaccine via a quick and painless nasal spray - just two seconds to provide them with the maximum protection against flu this winter. We are urging parents/guardians not to forget to sign and send back the consent form. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines |
![]() | A bad bout of flu can be serious even for an otherwise healthy individual, that is why it is so important that those eligible get vaccinated when invited, even if they consider themselves to be in good health. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines |
![]() | Respiratory illnesses such as flu, COVID-19 and RSV can be serious, even for some healthy people. The PHA, is urging everyone in the eligible groups to get ready for winter by taking up the offer of free vaccination when invited. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines #fluvaccine #WinterVaccines |

![]() | Children in P1 to Year 12 will be offered the flu vaccine in school. Most children receive the vaccine via a nasal spray. It is a quick and painless procedure, often described as a tickle in the nose, and is preferred for children over the injected flu vaccine due to its effectiveness and fewer side effects. We are urging parents/guardians not to forget to sign and send back the consent form. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines |
![]() | Flu occurs every year, usually in the winter, which is why it’s sometimes called seasonal flu. It’s a highly infectious disease with symptoms that come on very quickly. A bad bout of flu can be serious even in an otherwise healthy individual, that is why it is so important that those eligible get vaccinated when invited, even if they consider themselves or their children to be in good health. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines |
![]() | Flu spreads more easily in winter because we spend more time indoors with others and it can be particularly serious for individuals in an ‘at-risk’ group, including those over 65, those with underlying health conditions and pregnant women. But you can reduce your chances of developing serious complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia or being hospitalised just by getting vaccinated. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines #fluvaccine #WinterVaccines |
![]() | Don't Let Your Protection Fade Evidence shows that the COVID-19 vaccine protection fades and the flu virus changes over time. The vaccinations offered this season can top up your protection against severe illness from COVID-19 and flu. It’s best to get vaccinated ahead of winter. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines |
![]() | Pharmacies across Northern Ireland are participating in the winter vaccine campaign, offering vaccination to eligible groups in their own communities. This year pharmacies can vaccinate most eligible groups aged 18+. If you are eligible, please get vaccinated. Call into your local community pharmacy and book an appointment for your vaccines, don’t delay. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines #WinterVaccines |
![]() | Frontline health and social care workers are more likely to be exposed to winter viruses. If you are vaccinated and catch flu this winter, you are likely to have milder symptoms and recover faster. Getting vaccinated will also help to reduce the risk of you bringing the flu home from work. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines #WinterVaccines |
![]() | The flu vaccine is now available for health and social care workers. It is important for health and social care workers, including those working in the independent sector to take up the offer of vaccination as soon as possible to protect themselves and their families. For full details of vaccination arrangements within your own workplace check your trust intranet, staff newsletter or speak to your line manager. For further information see www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines

The PHA is reminding pregnant women to get the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine between 16 and 32 weeks of their pregnancy. The majority of children who are reported as having whooping cough are infants under six months of age so are too young to be protected by their routine childhood immunisations which are given at two, three, and four months of age. They can however be protected by their mother receiving the vaccination during pregnancy. For further information on the vaccinations offered in pregnancy, please check pha.site/vaccinesforpregnantwomen |
